THAI Airline Guide

THAI Airways is the national airline of the Kingdom of Thailand and it flies domestic, regional and intercontinental routes. THAI Airways calls Bangkok home.

Check-in

You can check in at the desk, online or in some cases at a self service kiosk.

Luggage restrictions and security

Hand luggage: Each passenger can bring on one piece measuring up to 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22" x 18" x 10"), but the sum must not be more than 115cm (45") and it must not weight more than 7kg.

Checked: Baggage can weigh up to 20kg in Economy class, up to 30kg in Royal Executive Class and up to 40kg in Royal First Class.

Families, elderly and disabled

Special meals for children and infants are available, but need to be booked 72 hours in advance. Other facilities such as bassinets and changing tables will also be available. Children get a discounted fare unless they are travelling as an unaccompanied minor (5 - 12) in which case they will need to pay the adult fare plus a £30 assistance charge. You will also need to fill out a form which can be downloaded from the Thai Airways website. People needing assistance should contact the airline as soon as possible. Wheelchairs are available free of charge.

Selecting a seat

THAI Airways has three classes: Royal, Silk and Economy. There is plenty of space to stretch out because even the Economy seats have a 34" seat pitch.

In-flight food and entertainment

THAI Airways are known for their fantastic local cuisine. Meals and drinks are complimentary in all classes.

Pets, sports gear and musical instruments

Pets are carried in the hold and may be subject to import duty. They will be charged at the normal excess baggage rate.

Alliances and air miles

THAI Airways is a member of the Star Alliance which includes airlines such as Air Canada, United, bmi, Air New Zealand, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines. You can collect Frequent flyer points through Royal Orchid and these can be combined with points earned from other programmes in the Star Alliance.
