Travel to Alcudia

Alcudia is approximately 55 kilometres (one hour) from the capital Palma and Majorca island's main airport. There are plenty of low-cost flights to Alcudia if you fly from the UK to Palma Airport. The flight takes about three hours. Information for flights to and from Palma de Majorca can be found here. If you don't want to fly to Majorca, there are ferries from Barcelona, Denia and Valencia every day.

On arrival in Alcudia

When you arrive at Palma Airport, there are various different travel options to take you to Alcudia - bus, taxi or car hire from Palma airport. Many holidays to Alcudia will include transfer by coach from the airport. This is an easy option but may take longer as the coach stops at other resorts along the way. Alternative transfer options include a private Majorca shuttle bus that stops at the major holiday destinations around the island. Taxis are available from the airport or you can pre book one so that it is there to collect you directly. Car hire in Majorcais easy and can be booked in advance of arrival at Palma Airport. Taxi or car hire is the quickest method of travelling to Alcudia although do remember to buy a map if you are driving!

Getting around Alcudia

The motorways and roads of Majorca are modern and extensive, which makes travelling by car an easy way to get around the island. Alcudia is well served by buses although they tend to be quite crowded, especially on market days. The bus company is Autocare Mallorca and you can find bus timetables here. Hiring a car is probably the best option, especially if you are on a family holiday or want to see more of the island including Porto Pollensa, Cala San Vicente, Palma de Majorca or Valldemossa.

Travelling further afield

Car hire in Majorca is highly recommended. By hiring a car you will have the freedom to explore the entire island. Day trips to Valldemossa and Deya are particularly worthwhile. The road through from Alcudia passes Pollensa, Lluc, Soller, Deya and Valldemossa. It is rather twisty but a picturesque drive. There is a ferry from the port of Alcudia that can take you to Menorca or even to Barcelona in Spain. There are two ferries a day during the summer season. Alternatively you can fly between the Balearic Islands from Palma Airport. Flight times are less than 30 minutes.
