There is not an overwhelming choice of departure points for Almeria flights, but they are spread across the country so you shouldn't have to travel too far. There are plenty of deals available, so check with a couple of carriers before you book. Flight times are around two hours from the south of the UK, slightly longer from more northern locations.
The airport is only seven miles from the centre of Almeria so transfers should be short. Taxis and hire cars are available, or you could jump on the local bus service, which runs regularly between the airport and locations in the city. More information on transport from Almeria Airport
Local buses can get you around Almeria, although most of the locations are also accessible on foot. If you want to travel within the local area then hiring a car is probably the easiest way to do this, and for short journeys there are also taxis on hand.
Almeria train station is connected to the national network, with Granada, Cordoba and Madrid all within easy reach, and many more cities if you don't mind a few connections. Intercity buses are also prevalent and are a great way to travel along the coast where train services are lacking. If you're feeling adventurous then you can head to the ferry port and catch a boat to Melila and Nador in Morocco. Spain has excellent motorways so if you want to drive yourself then it'll be easy, just watch out for toll roads if you're sticking to a budget.
