Altinkum is situated on the South West region of Turkey's Aegean coast. To get there from the UK you can either fly to Bodrum or Izmir. Bodrum (known as BJV) is a more popular choice than Adnan Menderes International Airport (ADB), Izmir. Flights can become hard to get hold of during the popular summer months so it is best to book well in advance. London to Bodrum takes four hours.
On arrival at Bodrum Airport you have several options. Transfers are likely to be included with package holidays. It takes about 45 minutes by coach from Bodrum to Altinkum and approximately 1 hour 20 minutes from Izmir to Altinkum. Car hire is available at either airport or in Altinkum
Local public transport is by dolmus - public bus. For just 1.25 lira (approx 50p) per ride you can get to several destinations further afield. Much of Altinkum is accessible on foot particularly around the centre where the roads have been pedestrianised.
Car hire in Altinkum is highly recommended, as it makes it easy to visit other resorts and historic sites along the Aegean coast. It's easy to catch a ferry to the Greek island of Kos, they run regularly from Didim's International Port, which is located at the far end of Altinkum's main beach.
