Antalya
Hot SpotsKaleici (Old Antalya)
Antalya's old city has only recently undergone its transformation into a tourist hub for holidays to Turkey so it still retains plenty of its charm with winding cobbled streets and old buildings. Cumhuriyet Square is central to this redevelopment and serves as a hub for entertainment, and frequently offers free open-air events. The Old Town is a great place to go for dinner, drinks or to find an inexpensive small hotel.
Lara Beach and East Antalya
This area is known as the Turkish Vegas as there are many high-end hotels and copies of famous places. It has also attracted the name of the Turkish Riviera because of its reputation for trendy beach life, classy hotels and stunning natural beauty. Many of the Antalya hotels here offer an all-inclusive experience complete with a private beach ready for a day's sunbathing.
Konyaalti Beach and West Antalya
This seven-km-long beach boasts plenty of space so you'll be sure to find a bit of sand for the day. With two water parks too it's easy to have fun and cool off. The seafront is where you'll find a good proportion of the restaurants and hotels in Antalya. There's also a Minipark, with scale models of important Turkish sights so you really can see it all from here! With great views of the nearby Olympos Park too this area is close to the Old Town for the best of both worlds.
Further Out
Away from these main tourist areas it's difficult to find accommodation, and it's advisable to steer clear of staying anywhere near the airport as Turkish buildings are made to cope with the heat, not soundproofing! The ancient city of Perge is in the northwest of the suburbs.
