Ayia Napa
Hot SpotsNightlife Hot Spots
Ayia Napa is known for its pulsating and busy nightlife scene. The area first came to media attention for its popularity within the garage and grime music world, but clubs play a variety of different music genres including house, electro and R&B. The most well regarded clubs in Ayia Napa include the Castle Club, Starskys, Bedrock, Aqua, LiveLounge and Sapporo. You'll find a bit of everything in Ayia Napa; from house nights 'til dawn to debauched foam parties; Michelin starred restaurants to bars to watch the sunset from. Beware though, in peak season if you're not into loud music, copious amounts of alcohol and streets that stay busy until 5am then you might want to take your holiday elsewhere!
Nature Hot Spots
Ayia Napa isn't just all clubbing; you can forget in all the excitement that the resort used to be a sleepy fishing village! Cyprus as a whole boasts gorgeous scenery for miles, and Ayia Napa is no different. Ayia Thekla beach, Makronissos beach, Landa beach, Vathia Gonia beach or others are brilliant beaches to visit if you want to get away from the busy, noisy (but still beautiful) Nissi Beach. Most of the beaches of Ayia Napa are well organized and have the Blue Flag eco-label. If you really fancy getting away from it, the lovely Cape Greco is a 10-minute drive from the centre of Ayia Napa, and is considered one of the most beautiful places on the island offering sightseeing, cliff jumping and a variety of other activities. A visit to the Ayia Napa sea caves and the Cape Greko sea caves is highly recommended.
Cultural Hotspots
Ayia Napa Monastery is the best known landmark of the Ayia Napa area. The Makronissos Tombs are found west of Agia Napa village in the locality of Makronissos. They are an ancient burial site, located at a stepped road, which leads down to a rectangular entrance. You'll find various museums in Ayia Napa; most notably, the Tornaritis and the Thalassa, which is the 'Municipal Museum of the Sea in Agia Napa'. Culture isn't necessarily the first thing that comes to mind when people think of Ayia Napa, but if you are this way inclined, there is plenty to occupy you.
