Siam Square
In close proximity to Sukhumvit is Siam Square, Bangkok's very own Soho. It acts as Bangkok's modern commercial core and is at the forefront of Bangkok's shopping scene having received a considerable amount of investment since the 1970s. It is now full of malls, hotels and three cinemas. The skytrain intersection marks the city centre.
Silom
Silom is Bangkok's central business district by day, with a skyline dominated by skyscrapers. At night this area really comes alive, home to the infamous den of Pat Pong. There are a number of parks, museums, and places of worship that stand out in this district and it is notorious for having the best spas and tailors the city has to offer.
Old City/Phra Nakhon District
Bangkok's cultural and historical heritage starts here in Phra Nakhon, often seen as the heart of the city. Significant landmarks include The Giant Swing , the Buddist temples Wat Pho and Wat Suthat and The Grand Palace, not to mention the backpacker haven of Kaosan Road.
Kaosan Road
Situated in the Banglampu district, the Kaosan Road forms the epicentre for the backpacking community. Providing everything a backpacker is looking for: cheap accommodation, shops selling souvenirs, bars, street food and other tourist items, it is a street that never sleeps. Coaches leave daily from here to other major tourist destinations around Thailand.
