Travel to Benidorm
Most travellers arrive in Benidorm via Alicante Airport , about 60 kilometres to the south. There are plenty of flights into Alicante from over 30 UK airports with many carriers offering cheap deals.
On arrival in Benidorm
There are several options for getting to Benidorm once you've touched down in Alicante. If you hire a car it is a fairly simple drive along the coastal motorway, although there are tolls on this road. There are regular shuttle buses that run direct from the airport to Benidorm, which are probably best booked in advance, or you can use the local buses from Alicante bus station. This is the most thrifty option, but also takes the longest. There is also a FGV train running from Alicante along the coast to Denia which stops at Benidorm at the small train station by the beach.
Getting around Benidorm
For those planning to explore the quieter areas around Benidorm the best option is to hire a car as the public transport is infrequent away from the main resorts. But if you're only planning on taking a couple of trips away from the beach, Benidorm has an excellent bus network. It is easy to use, modern and inexpensive and serves the whole resort. There are also plenty of taxi ranks if you'd prefer to convenience of going door to door.
Travelling further afield
Spain has an excellent train infrastructure and it's easy to get to major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. There are also plenty of intercity coach connections from the Benidorm bus station going to a very wide variety of destinations around Spain. Roads are excellent if you want to hire a car, and although lots of the more modern motorways have regular tolls they are not too expensive.
