But what are we here in the dealchecker office planning for our extra Bank Holiday this year?
I’m off to Torquay for the weekend – I’m actually going to be a bridesmaid at one of my friend’s weddings so I imagine I’ll be crying as much as anyone watching the celebrations on the TV will be!
Our editor Alice can’t see further than her new house – she’s hoping that she’ll finally be in it and able to do nothing but spend days at a time wandering IKEA and searching for furniture. But she will make time for a Royal-themed party!
Dartmoor by Herry Lawford
Techie Nigel is after a slice of the great outdoors, and is taking the kids camping on Dartmoor National Park. River Dart Country Park has more activities than you can shake a stick at and was voted Devon’s top attraction last year.
Zoe, or as you may know her, Mother Hen (she looks after all our subscribers) is fleeing the country! Well, when I say fleeing I really taking advantage of the extra time off and visiting Lille for a family birthday celebration. Grandfather Zoe will be 80!
There’s clearly been a lot of thought gone into deal hunter Sophie’s plan so far. She summed it up in one word – party! And if the tales of her Christmas party are anything to go by, it’s going to be messy!
Quintessential TriBeCa by dandeluca
Other Sophie (yes, this is confusing for us too) wins the prize for getting the furthest away during the long weekend – she’s off to the TriBeCa area of Lower Manhattan in New York for a friend’s 30th. Now that’s the way to see your birthday in in style!
Our boss Mark has it all sorted to the last detail. It’s a lovely family holiday in the UK for him. He’ll be taking the campervan plus wife and kids to Dorset and seeing Corfe Castle, Studland Beach, Durdle Door and the Famous Five Adventure Trail!
Not even new girl Vanessa was safe from my questions and it turns out – it’s her birthday! We can’t really blame her for not having a fixed plan just yet, but it seems likely she’ll be staying in London, so maybe just a peek or two at the TV then?
Sicily by gnuckx
And Anna says it’s all about going somewhere sunny and cultural where she can eat a lot. I thought she just did that on a recent trip to San Sebastian, but since it seems like such a great combo she’s going to do it all over again! Sicily is the frontrunner at the moment, good job she just ran up London’t Gherkin for charity!
Fellow writer Eve claims she’s planning on indulging her love of fancy dress by dressing up like the Queen and heading to the streets in search of loyal followers who will ply her with gifts. I think that means she’s up for a street party. But if you do happen to see a strangely young and alone Queen on the TV on Jubilee Day then give her a wave! It’s likely to be Eve!
