Colosseum
posted by mwentzel It's the most iconic Roman structure in the world and you can't miss it, despite the crowds. I can't believe loads of the stone was used elsewhere, and how enormous and imposing it must have been for those poor gladiators who fought there. Piazza del Campidoglio
posted by ccaldwell What a square! You climb up (a lot of) steps not quite knowing what you'll find and then there you are, surrounded by some fantastic buildings in an amazing hilltop square. Beautiful. Via del Corso
posted by jyoung What amazing shopping! This whole long road is just a shopper's paradise and don't forget to turn into the streets near the spanish steps for some high end stores plus wonderful shoe shops. Take the credit card! Vatican Museums
posted by jjowers You can't go to Rome and not see these Museums, they are the most phenomenal place i've ever been. So much to see, the tapestries, the library, the Borgia Apartments, and of course the Raphael Rooms featuring the Sistine Chapel. Well worth quite a hefty queue, would advise going early. Castel Sant'Angelo
posted by ykifer What an extraordinary place! One time mausoleum, the fortress was then taken over by the papacy and it became part of the city walls, with an extra hidden passage to the vatican. Although thousands of years have passed since Rome was the capital of the world's most powerful empire, the city still bears the marks of this triumphant era in its architecture and rich cultural heritage. From the decaying Colosseum to the decadence of the Vatican there is hardly an uninteresting inch of Rome. In Rome car hire is just one of the options for transport with many choosing to pick up bicycles or motorbikes to nip around the streets. The car hire Rome Airport offers should be adequate as this city is a major international transport hub. Like all major cities, relying on taxis can be hard on the wallet. You may not be able to see all of the wonders which Rome has to offer in one visit, but it is worth attempting to take in places such as the Pantheon and St Peter's Basilica if you have the time. With cheap Rome car hire you will be able to make the most of your Rome holidays by speeding between destinations, although taking it slowly and absorbing the atmosphere is recommended. Even the hotels in Rome are dripping in historic significance.Hiring A Car at Rome Airport
