 Sunset Beach

aka Playa de Poniente, this is the better beach in the centre if you ask me. Fewer stones, loads of space and incredible sunsets.

 Calpe

My boyfriend and I took a boat trip to Calpe for the day and I must say I had no idea just quite how beautiful the coastline is. I mean, we go to Benidorm for the craic and cheap prices but it really is quite stunning there too.

Wow! What a magnificent place! The kids were absolutely spellbound too which was a great treat in itself! The rock formations are astonishing and the lighting just perfect. I can only imagine how lovely it would be to see a concert here.

What great views! And such an exciting entrance, through the tunnel in the rocks! Lovely as the sun goes down.

My kids are dolphin crazy so we couldn't pass up the chance to go here when we went to see family in the area! It went down a real treat and they were even so kind as to let me see some of the other animals whilst we were there which was lovely! Bargain discounts for the winter too!!

dealchecker's guide to Benidorm

Benidorm is the largest resort on Spain's Costa Blanca and attracts over five million visitors a year. Infamous as a destination for British lager louts wanting an English breakfast and 'club 18-30' shenanigans, it may come as a surprise that over half of the holidaymakers are Spanish.

When to go
July and August in Benidorm are hot and dry, with average maximum temperatures heading up towards 30C and beyond and with no rainfall to speak of. These months are also, of course, when the resort is at its busiest and you will find the streets and beaches absolutely packed. April, May, June and September, October are quieter months and the weather is still very pleasant with temperatures in the 20s. Most of the shops, bars and restaurants are open all year round and although the resort will be quiet holidaymakers still visit in the depths of winter.

How to get there
In the peak season a return flight to Benidorm will cost about £100 but in the quieter months you should only need to pay around £50 for your flight. Benidorm is serviced from London, Luton, Glasgow, Manchester and all major UK airports.

What to do One of the reasons that Benidorm became so popular and grew from a modest fishing town into a huge tourist resort is that it has two huge, beautiful beaches, Levante and Poniente, which stretch for over three miles and are always kept incredibly clean. All of the water sports that you can imagine are available and there are a host of water and theme parks in Benidorm itself or within a short journey.

If you are looking for Spanish culture and history, it would be fair to say that this may not be the destination for you. However, the town is surrounded by stunning mountains and is only 25 miles north of the city of Alicante with many shops and sites to see.
