Gran Canaria flights take about 4 hours from London, or between 4 and 5 hours from Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast or Glasgow. It is very well served from the UK by scheduled flights including British Airways, charters from Monarch, Thomas Cook and XL and low cost airlines such as Easyjet. The capital city, Las Palmas, has a fantastic historical centre characterised by Spanish style colonial architecture. Inland the island offers a rugged highland landscape including a dormant volcano with a 200m deep crater.
