 Esplenadi

posted by hdunkle

The Esplenadi is really the centre of Helsinki in the summer months when the whole town empties out onto the grass to enjoy the concerts, cafes and food stalls here. The Esplenadi is made up of two areas of very well kept garden with a few nice little statues dotted around.

dealchecker's guide to Helsinki

Helsinki is irrefutably cool and it has not lost its essential beauty which its harbour and waterways provide. It does not have the same historic gravitas as other European cities but this is by no means a negative, giving a youthful vibrancy to the place which deserves to be experienced.

Flights To Helsinki

Those booking a flight to Helsinki from the UK will need to spend around three hours on typical Helsinki flights, which is easily manageable. Helsinki Airport is a little over ten miles from the city and a transfer on to cheap Helsinki hotels will last up to half an hour once you have disembarked from Helsinki flights.

Getting Around Helsinki

There are plenty of options for getting around the city, with car hire from Helsinki Airport great for those who have plans for travelling further afield, whilst the network of public transport made up of the metro, buses and trams should suffice for those who prefer to stay within the city.

What To See In Helsinki

Helsinki has some pretty amazing sights on offer and a great example of its bizarre and brilliant monuments is Temppeliaukio, a church built underground by cutting into the bedrock. Concerts are held in here, with unique acoustic results. Kids can frolic at Serena Water Park which is nearby at Espoo, and if you want to see the city from a different angle then get a ferry to Suomenlinnaon, an island paradise and UNESCO World Herritage site, making cheap flights to Helsinki a worthy investment.
