Kiev's history can be traced back over 1500 years and as such it has many monuments and impressive buildings to delight newcomers and fuel the tourist trade. Its population is educated and very proud of their city which means the hotels in Kiev are popular amongst those who want to get a good grip on Ukrainian culture. Kiev flights should take around three hours and 20 minutes for UK travellers and many major airports operate cheap flights to Kiev. There are two main airports in Kiev, the first being a self-titled nearby option and the other taking the name of Boryspil International Airport because of the nearby town. The latter airport is where most Kiev flights touch down and it is 18 miles from the city so expect transfer times of half an hour or more after a flight to Kiev. You can find cheap Kiev car hire but beware that road signs are almost exclusively in Ukrainian and so difficult to decipher without a map. A speedy underground metro system is a good way for pedestrians to get around quickly and streetcars are also available in certain areas. One of the most poignant places to visit in Kiev is the Chernobyl Museum where you can learn about the famous plant and the disaster which occurred there.
