Ponta de Piedade
posted by dmarshall The Algarve is famous for its rocky outcrops and i've not seen any better than those here. We chartered a boat to take us to the best spots and some of the vistas are just breathtaking! Wine Tour
posted by dbaird We went for a tour of the lovely vineyard in Quinta do Miradouro called Adega do Cantor Sociedade de Vitivinicultura, which is apparently owned by Sir Cliff Richard himself! Lovely wine and a beautiful place. Praia da Luz
posted by rhouston A little drive a way from Lagos but in my opinion it's the most beautiful beach in the area. If you hire a car definitely head out that way! Penina Championship Golf Course
posted by vberkheimer What a course! I loved seeing it when I watched the Portuguese Open and it was such a treat and such a challenge to play on. Highlight of my holiday without a shadow of a doubt. Alcalar Megalithic Monuments
posted by tprior Travelling about the Lagos area enjoying the scenery we came across these huge limestone and sandstone megaliths, so we investigated further. The Centro de Acolhimento e Interpretacao Alcalar gave us a leaflet and we found some tombs too, all dating back to 3000BC!! A great day's exploring! |
Lagos lies on Portugal's Algarve coast, known for its beautiful beaches, laid-back lifestyle and lovely weather. Even the Romans used to holiday in the area, although they couldn't just hop on cheap flights to Lagos. The town retains its charm despite the tourist influx and is a picture-perfect model of a Portuguese seaside town. Flights to Lagos land in at nearby Faro, and it's just a short journey by bus to your accommodation. Throughout the summer there are plenty of offers on cheap flights to Lagos so you should be able to pick up a bargain, and with Lagos flights taking around 2 hours, and the onward transfer an hour more you can be holidaying in no time. If you choose to pick up Lagos car hire at Faro Airport then you will be well placed to seek out both cheap Lagos hotels and the delights of the surrounding area. The town itself is small and most of it can be seen on foot. The main beach, Meia Praia is very popular, and there are numerous other coves dotted around the coastline, some only accessible by boat. In the town, the gilded interior of St. Anthony's Church is a sight to behold and the Forte da Ponta da Bandeira will take you back in history to less peaceful times. Flights To Lagos
