 Djemaa el Fna

The throbbing heart of the city isn't always pretty but there's so much to see you can grab a cafe seat and watch the world go by, eat delicious food or just wander about day or night.

 High Tech Souq

This is the craziest sight! A really old souq that seems like it's hewn out of the mud and stone, just crammed with the latest digital technologies!

 Majorelle Gardens

As a fabric buyer i'm, often in Morocco sourcing some local cloth and I always make sure to come here to this stunning garden. for me it's the highlight of the city.

 Dar Si Said Museum

I had no idea what to expect of a museum offering Berber arts, crafts and culture but it was completely engrossing. I loved the cedarwood furniture too and don't just walk by the carved doors, they are exquisite as well.

Stunning place, really gorgeous, and the kids seemed to have fun here too. They loved the teeny students rooms, whilst I just couldn't get enough of the architecture and the exquixite detailling.

dealchecker's guide to Marrakesh

Marrakesh comes close to being a stereotype of a Moroccan city, with tight backstreets, street traders and plenty of boisterous locals all out to barter and sell. In amongst the markets and cheap Marrakesh hotels there are palaces, museums and even a new town lurking, so exploration is key to enjoyment.

Flights To Marrakesh

UK tourists booked on Marrakesh flights will spend four hours in the air on a typical package. Marakesh-Menara International Airport accepts most cheap flights to Marrakesh originating from Europe. It should take 15 to 20 minutes to travel onwards after Marrakesh flights arrive as the airport is within the city limits.

Getting Around Marrakesh

You can seek car hire from Marrakesh Airport and whilst you can rent just a vehicle many firms will also provide a driver for an extra fee, which may be the easiest way to get around after a flight to Marrakesh. Otherwise there are buses, taxis and even horse-drawn carts for an authentic and charming experience.

What To See In Marrakesh

The endless markets in Marrakesh are known as the Souks and although there are some amalgamated areas dedicated to shopping almost any busy street will have some stalls, so it is often better just to go for a wander and see what you can find. For natural delights visit Majorelle Gardens, if only to escape the busy nature of the main streets. The palaces of El Bahia and El Badi show two different sides of the city, with the former retaining its original splendour and the latter now lying in ruins.
