Hermitage
posted by momara The Hermitage has to be one of the largest collections of art in the world and there's no feasible way of seeing it all. St. Petersburg was founded in 1703 by Tsar Peter the Great. Its picturesque location on the Gulf of Finland and the Neva River, along with the amazing architecture and historical significance, make it a popular holiday destination. Cheap St Petersburg flights are relatively easy to come by, with the main airport, Pulkovo, just over a three-hour flight from London. There is a 24-hour shuttle into the city centre from the airport, so whatever time your St Petersburg flight lands, transport will be available. Car hire outlets and taxis are also available at the airport if you prefer to arrive on four wheels. Once you have your cheap flights to St Petersburg booked, you will need to start thinking about getting around. Public transport around the city is efficient, but for flexibility car hire from St Petersburg Airport is something to consider. It's well worth it, although the main city streets can get a little busy during rush hour. With so many cheap St Petersburg flights available, more and more travellers are visiting the city for breaks. There are hundreds of beautiful buildings such as the Admiralty, St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Winter Palace to see, along with canals, waterways and bridges such as Trinity Bridge. The Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral should not be missed and if possible you should try to be there at noon for the ritual cannon firing. The reception staff at most St Petersburg hotels will be able to help you with maps and recommendations to make the most of your visit.Flights to St Petersburg
