Amarillo is the largest city in the Texas Panhandle with a population of 180,000. It sits at he crossroads of Interstate 40 and Interstate 27 in the center of the Panhandle. It is served by one of the largest railroads in the U.S., Burlinton Northern Santa Fe, or BNSF. It has just recently gained a new nickname as "Tilt Rotor City" due Bell Helicopter. Bell is building the new Osprey Tilt Rotor helicopter here for the military. Also the new Presidental helecopter is going to be built here. Amarillo International Airport has one of the longest runways in the U.S. that can handle any aircraft up to and including the Space Shuttle.

 Amarillo is a fast going city with an excellent Police and Fire Dept. It is a very clean city with a low crime rate and a very good infastructure. City streets and Parks are well maintained as well as being expanded. The climate is usually good but it can have its extremes. Snow fall in the winter is normaly 3 to 5 inches at a time, and 5 or 6 times a season. The summer can have 100 degree temps., but normaly stays in the 90's. Amarillo does sit in Tornado Alley but tornadoes in the city are rare.

Just a few miles South of Amarillo is the 2nd largest canyon in the the U.S. Palo Duro Canyon State Park is second only to the Grand Canyon and is a great place to camp, hike, or sightsee.
