Arezzo is a very beautiful town in Tuscany. In the middle ages it competed with Florence in military power, now it tries to beat the old rival in beauty.

Enjoying a central position in Tuscany position located at equal distances from Florence, Perugia and Siena, Arezzo dominates the valleys of the Arno and Tevere rivers. The medieval historic centre, rich in traces of earlier Etruscan and Roman cultures, is set on a hillside surrounded by a fertile plain.

One of the highlights of Arezzo is found in the church of St. Francesco. The marvellous cycle of frescoes (dating from 1452) by the painter Piero della Francesca is a must see for anyone with an interest in art.
