Nice lies on the Côte d'Azure, and this southern spot in France has long been a playground for the rich and famous, as well as a winter getaway since Roman times. If you look for Nice hotels that are near to the Promenade des Anglais and the Old Town you'll be perfectly placed to wander in these two areas, as well as having plenty of places to eat right on your doorstep. Climb up to the castle, but don't look for the ruins as there aren't any, just admire the view. If you have more time on your city break to Nice check out the beautiful blooms at Cours Saleya Flower Market and head over to the Russian Cathedral for a fantastic juxtaposition of style. Browse the famous works at Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain and relax on the beach by the glittering blue sea. Some hotels come with their own private beach, complete with protection from all those pebbles. Summers are ideal for a long lazy holiday with afternoon strolls and evening cocktails. The weather is beautiful and the city is relaxed. Winter is better suited to a cheap weekend break so you can see the sights, sample the food and enjoy the mild weather.
