How to get to Corsica
Despite being an increasingly popular holiday destination, Corsica remains relatively unspoilt, although UK travellers will be competing with the Corsican-loving French and Italians. Cheap holidays to Corsica are possible off-season but you can also get some good deals in the summer. With average flying time from the UK just under two hours, this little island off the coast of Italy has four major airports. The budget airlines tend to fly into Figari, so cheap Figari flights are relatively easy to find. Figari Sud Corse Airport is three km from Figari village and it is a small, provincial airport with limited transport. It is worth organising car hire from Figari Airport.
Where to stay in Corsica
Corsica holidays are often based in the southern main resort of Porto Vecchio, boasting eight miles of sandy bays. The main town consists of a marina and the old walled part of town, which is where many go to dine. One especially lovely area is Santa Giulia bay, which is shallow and lagoon like and is popular for water sports. Most of the Porto Vecchio hotels are a 10 to 20-minute drive from the beaches.
Bonifacio is a port surrounded by deep limestone cliffs. Hotels and restaurants here are on the quay and the old town is built along the cliffs.
