Majorca is the most popular destination in the Balearics, a group of islands lying just off the east coast of mainland Spain. Thousands of travellers from the north of England have been taking holidays in Majorca for decades and it does have a reputation as an out and out package holiday destination, however, it does have a much more upmarket side and can cater for a wide range of visitors. How to get there When to go What to do Whatever you choose to do on your holiday to Majorca (and wherever you are flying from) why not let dealchecker help you get the best deal? If you're not looking for a package holiday why not book independently by using our searches for a cheap flight to Majorca and a cheap hotel in Majorca separately?
Given the popularity of the island your choices for getting there are now numerous. Cheap holidays to Majorca are possible either by booking a package holiday or a flight and hotel separately. There are charter, scheduled and low cost flight options to Palma, the island's main airport, from many UK airports as well as Manchester (Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds-Bradford and more). Once you're there it can be a good idea to hire a car so you can visit more than one beach and see the island's natural attractions.
Majorca holidays can be taken throughout most of the year depending on just how hot you want it to be. The island has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild but sometimes damp winters. The summer months of June, July and August are by far the hottest and most popular because of a combination of the weather and the school holidays, this inevitably means that a trip during this period is likely to be anything but cheap. Holidays to Majorca are much kinder on the wallet during the rest of the year and in the 'shoulder' months of April, May, September and October there is still great weather and a host of cheap holiday bargains to be found.
For many visitors the beach itself is the main attraction of their holidays. Majorca is well endowed in this respect with great beaches surrounding the island on all sides and choice of location is more likely to rest of how lively or relaxing a time you want on your holiday. Majorca has a choice of resorts from the famous, (possibly even notorious) Magaluf, a 24 hour party zone, to the much more sedate Puerto Pollensa in the north with a host of other options in between. The island's capital city, Palma de Mallorca, is also on the coast, close to a range of beaches but boasts plenty of old colonial architecture and great shopping if you fancy a few hours away from sunning yourself.
