Travel Tips for Alicante

 Gravina Muesum of Fine Arts

The entrance may not look up to much but behind the facade you'll find loads of paintings of Alicante itself throughout the centuries as well as some other rather fine works of art. A great spot for a cloudy morning.

The modern art museum is small but in my opinion perfectly formed. There are some works by Picasso and Miro that really stood out as the highlights but the whole thing is lovely. I urge you to take an hour away from the beach and visit it!

Charming little place! Beautiful setting, with some pretty impressive architecture. The old fortifications are majestic and the moorish town with its little streets and lovely buildings is worth the visit alone!

This is the place to be in the evenings. Gorgeous architecture, plenty of cafes and bars and you never know what might happen, with festivals and concerts happening all the time too.

We ate here several evenings and went for sophisticated afternoon drinks too and were really impressed every time, no matter where we went. Service was great and the seafood was thoroughly excellent.

dealchecker's guide to Alicante

Alicante is part of the Valencia region. It is one of the most popular tourist areas in Spain. Near Alicante you can find mountains, castles, forests, etc. There are numerous places to explore as Upper Marina, with the towns of Jávea, Teulada, Benitachell and Calpe. Lower Marina includes the tourist centre of Benidorm, as well as beautiful Altea and Villajoyosa.

The beaches of Alicante are great and some interesting monuments such as Santa Barbara Castle, Monastery of Santa Faz, the Cathedral, the Archaeeological Museum, Church of Santa Maria and the Modern Art Museum are all worth a visit. The view from the Santa Barbara Castle is incredible. It is located high above the city. After the hike up and back down, a nice rest on the beach is wonderful. Alicante is also a good place for shopping and has an interesting nightlife, although tourists tend to go wild in Benidorm or other beach resorts nearby.
