All holidays to Nerja start off with a flight to the nearest airport, which is Malaga. The best way to arrange onward travel is to book it alongside your package holiday to Nerja, with most holiday companies offering it included or as an added extra - this is a great way to get value for money as well as taking away the hassle of making the trip yourself.
There is also a shuttle bus you can use which departs from Malaga Station, which you can get to from the airport on a local bus service. This is a reasonably frequent service in peak times, although does not run 24 hours, so check the online timetable if you want to use this method. Hiring a car can be quite useful on your holiday to Nerja and you will find the roads to be well sign posted when it comes to making the transfer to your hotel. It's a great way to get around if you want to explore the local area, but if you're looking to just lie in the sunshine all day you might find it to be more of a hassle or unwanted cost. Make sure you have some change in the car too, because there are toll booths on the route from Malaga to Nerja.
The final alternative is to get a taxi, and although you will certainly pay a reasonably large sum you will get a door to door service without any hassle. It's definitely worth chatting to fellow passengers on the flight to see if anyone wants to share!
There are a wide choice of cheap Nerja hotels with some great value deals for cheap holidays in Nerja, as well as some more expensive hotels if you want to treat yourself. As with all beach resorts, staying right by the beach will come at a premium, so look for a hotel set just back and you will get great value without having to walk too far to the sea.
If you're looking to stick to a tight budget during your holidays in Nerja you will find a couple of hostels are available. For an alternative take, if you're going with family or friends or just like to be independent then you will find a great choice of villas to rent too, some with their own pools!
If you want to enjoy Nerja from a higher vantage point then the picturesque Balcon de Europa is where you should head. In the Old Town you will find El Salvador, a lovely a 17th century church whilst the El puente de Aguila aqueduct is also an eyecatching sight. The Nerja Caves are a recent discovery with plenty of archaeological interest and boast paintings dating back thousands of years.

East Nerja - the beaches here are more pebbly, with Burriana Beach and its far end of Carabeillo Beach the sandiest. Other options are Calahonda Beach and Carabeo Beach. These tend to be quieter than the sandy beaches so if you can't handle the crowds in peak season head here for some respite.
West Nerja - Del Salon Beach is the most central, which makes it the most popular! Torrecilla Beach is where you will find the resort hotels, as well as a large promenade and generally a great atmosphere conducive to relaxing on a holiday in Nerja. Further on you will find El Playazo which is the largest and most secluded beach in the resort, and as such our pick for a day sunbathing!
