Located approximately four hours to the south of Barcelona on the Mediterranean Sea, Valencia is Spain's third most important city. Valencia holidays feature a feast of great cultural sights and activities, as well as a host of activities on great local beaches. Within easy access of most of Europe, cheap holidays in Valencia are becoming increasingly popular. The local airport is located about five miles from the centre and is well connected by metro, bus and taxi to the city. Alternatively, car hire from Valencia Airport makes getting to and from the city and beaches even more convenient. It's possible to take a flight to Valencia from a choice of airports across the UK. Regular trains operate from both Madrid and Barcelona, making holidays to Valencia easy to incorporate into more far-reaching Spanish holidays. There are beach resorts within and just outside the city, with a variety of accommodation at each. Playa de Malvorrosa and Playa e Levante o de la arenas, just north of Valencia's port are the most popular beaches. South of the city El Saler is well developed and Devesa has nice surroundings. The city features architecture and ruins from its Roman, Moorish and Renaissance periods and today it's also famous for its massive architectural complex known as the City of Arts and Sciences. Try to visit for the annual Fallas Festival and be sure to try the Spanish national dish of Paella which was created in the city. Seu Cathedral, with a mix of Gothic Baroque and Romanesque architecture, is not to be missed and The Llotja, an ancient silk exchange market is an essential stop on all Valencia holidays. How to get to Valencia
