Canterbury Hotels

Canterbury is an historic cathedral city in the south east of England. After Thomas Becket, then Archbishop of Canterbury, was murdered in the Cathedral in 1170, it became a place of pilgrimage for many Christians from around the world. It was this pilgrimage that inspired 'The Canterbury Tales', a literary classic by Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th Century. Many of the city's historical structures still remain, including a Norman castle and the ruins of St Augustine's Abbey. The beach resorts of Whitstable and Herne Bay are also a major attraction to the area.
