Einsiedeln is one of the oldest cantons. The city is located in the heart of the country, just one hour by train from Zurich in the direction of the mountains.
The main sight in town is the monastery - the monastery and the city date back to the 9th century. It is located at the highest point of the town and offers a good view. The walls and ceiling of the monastery church are decorated very elegantly.
From Einsiedeln there are buses to
Hoch Ybrig where you can ski, while in Einsiedeln itself you'll find a nice nordic ski path.
