Hopkinsville is a town of approx. 30,000 in western KY.  It is near Ft. Campbell, KY, the home of the "Screaming Eagles" (101st Airborne)

One famous person from Hopkinsville is Edgar Cayce.  Cayce was a psychic that became known for cures that he sugested to people while he was in self-induced trances.  There are several books about Cayce and more can be found about him at: www.EdgarCayce.com  Cayce is buried in Hopkinsville.

Ferrell's Hamburgers has been an establishment in Hopkinsville since 1929. Until just a few years ago the only time it was closed was on Christmas Day.  The entrance to Ferrell's is on a web cam at: www.hoptownhall.com

Hopkinsville is in Christian Co. and made national news in August 1955 when it was reported that aliens landed on a farm a few miles N. of Hopkinsville.  Residents near the landing site reportedly shot at them for several hours but when local and state law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they found no evidence of an UFO.  www.kellygreenmen.com

The "Trail of Tears" march of the Cherokee Indians came through Hopkinsville on its way from North Carolina to Oklahoma.  Two of the Cherokee chiefs, Fly Smith and Whitepath died and are buried near the Little River.  For over 20 years there has been an annual PowWow here featuring Native American dancers from several states. www.trailoftears.org 

Near here is the Land Between the Lakes national recreation area.  It is bordered by Barkley Lake and Kentucky Lake. The LBL is a large area that has campgrounds, hunting, fishing and is a most popular vacation site for families. There is a herd of buffalo and elk near the center of LBL that is open for public viewing.
