Kyoto is also considered to rank as one of the world's best cities for culture and its art galleries and museums should definitely be part of your itinerary. Public transport is excellent, but if you are staying in Kyoto car hire  will also give you the freedom to venture out and explore the countryside.

Choosing a Kyoto Hotel

Kyoto hotels are plentiful and the standard of accommodation is high. In addition to cheap hotels in Kyoto there are also many western, business-class options, or for something more traditional why not stay in a Japanese-style inn, a ryokan. You can even stay in a temple if you want! Cheap hotels in Kyoto are harder to find in the high seasons of spring and autumn when you should make a reservation well in advance.

When to visit Kyoto

Kyoto holidays in the winter can also provide the opportunity to go skiing so it could be worth considering a trip then.
