Turkey's most well-developed resort sits on what the Turks are starting to call their Riviera; and judging by the size of the yachts that appear in the bay you can see why. When to go
Turkey's summers can get pretty hot and July and August are undoubtedly the hottest. This also coincides with the peak season and the resorts fill up making it quite hard to find bargain hotels in Marmaris. Winters are much cooler, there's more rain but the weather is still good and there's a resident expatriate community so there's still plenty to do. However the time to get the best Marmaris hotel deals and enjoy good weather without the crowds is April, May, September and October - although a yacht festival in May is making that month more popular.

What to do
During the day most head for the beaches which are covered with a dark slightly-gritty sand. They aren't the widest but you will find plenty of sun beds and umbrellas to keep you in the shade. Many hotels in Marmaris have private beaches and some even go to the trouble of importing sand. The waters are stunningly clear and very warm making it excellent for bathing. If you're a beach connoisseur, then head about half an hour out of the resort where you will find some amazing beaches that are much less crowded in the high season.

Once you've found the right Marmaris hotel at the right price then expect to find lots of fantastic restaurants with amazing local food as well as Bar street, which does what it says on the tin and is filled with bars and nightclubs where you can party the night away.
