When to go
Miami is a year-round destination accessible from a number of UK airports. The beaches are as welcoming in December as they are in July, and the weekend nightlife never stops. The high-season is in winter (January to April) and the low season is summer (June to September) - when other US cities get cold, Miami's tourism heats up. Where to stay
Separated from the rest of Miami by Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach is the most popular tourist spot; it's also close to South Beach's hip clubs and restaurants. Choose from a huge selection of Miami hotels, from boutique art deco hotels to large resorts. It's also convenient for pre-cruise stays.

Coral Gables is caters to an older crowd than Miami Beach and is ideal for golf and boutique shopping. Alternatively, Coconut Grove has no beach access, but has a great open-air shopping and restaurant area. Downtown hotels are really only useful for business travellers.

What to do
Miami has a lively Latin culture, which is reflected in the city's music, food, language and mood. Miami is also famous for its art deco architecture and of course the beach. Don?t miss South Beach, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Calle Ocha (little Havana) and cruising the bay. For shoppers, Miami has it all from boutiques to outlets.
