The second largest city in Wales, Swansea is a bustling seaside resort in a beautiful area. Holidays in Swansea are all about getting outside and enjoying some of the more traditional seaside activities like strolling the promenade and visiting small seaside villages like Mumbles with its Victorian pier. You can also wander round some of the wonderful museums and art galleries in the city, such as the National Waterfront Museum and the Dylan Thomas Centre. With car hire in Swansea you can also get out and explore more of the Gower peninsula.
There are lots of B&Bs and hotels in Swansea that overlook the sea front, a popular spot for holiday makers. You can find Swansea hotels to suit all budgets, but if you want to treat yourself a little, look for a hotel in Swansea's Uplands area. Never fear though, if you're in need of cheap hotels in Swansea there are a whole host of hostels, campsites and budget hotels all over the city. Mumbles is also famed for its excellent sea front hotels.
As with most UK seaside destinations, the peak of the tourist influx is during the summer months, when the weather is the warmest - or supposed to be! If you want to get active on the walking routes and cycle paths consider visiting in late spring or early autumn to avoid the peak crowds and enjoy the routes in a little more solitude. Some of the bays around Swansea are popular all year round with surfers, and there are sailing schools that can give you a look at the sport whenever you visit, dependent on weather of course.
