The flight takes about 20 hours from the UK ? giving you the chance to watch a lot of in-flight movies! Shop around for a good flight to Sydney, because you can get some great one-off deals. Prices are generally cheaper during their winter though, which is June to August.
For a high-end hotel in Sydney you have lots of options, head for The Rocks, Circular Quay or the city centre. Darlinghurst and Paddington have lovely boutique hotels too. For a mid-range Sydney hotel, try Darling Harbour, or just out of the main centre, while budget travellers will find a hotel in Kings Cross. Each of Sydney's beaches has a range of hotels for all budgets.
An obvious starting point is Circular Quay, with the Opera House and sparkling harbour to your right, and the iconic arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on your left. From here you can jump on a ferry to Sydney's entertainment hub, Darling Harbour, or to Manly beach. A short bus ride away is the world famous Bondi Beach ? great for a day out. Further afield there are the stunning Blue Mountains, Ku-ring Gai National Park and the pristine Northern Beaches.
