What a show! Totally unexpected things, playful yet serious make for a thoroughly entertaining time in Napoleon's gardens. Head to Venice before the Biennale is over if you possibly can!

Stunning architecture and opulent decor, plus an informative museum on clothing. I loved it here, just walking around imagining what it would have been like to live here years ago.

We were staying on the Lido and I couldn't pass up the opportinity to play on the golf course here, rated one of the best in the country. I was really impressed and had a totally enjoyable day. My girlfriend loved heading off to the shops without me in tow too!

What a HUGE place! There's so much to explore here, I could have walked around for hours and hours. No fewer than 25 Doges were buried here, so it's a very special place.

I took a trip here whilst the girls all went shopping and it was totally engrossing, great for any and every fan of huge ships and naval battles.

Choosing a Venice Hotel

The two main choices for transport are boat or foot. Venice can be easy to get lost - although it's very safe this can make for an exhausting evening trying to find your way back to your lodging! Some of the more expensive Venice hotels have a water entrance and you can travel by water taxi. If you do decide to stay in one of the cheap hotels in Venice then plan your sightseeing routes before you leave.

When to Visit Venice

Although holidays to Venice are a watery experience, the weather remains clement and constant. February marks the start of events in Venice with a carnival, but this can push hotel rates up quite a bit. March and April are a solid choice as the weather is warming up nicely and it tends to be quieter. June and July are the hottest months and November brings the year to a close with the festival of Salute.
