Crete Weather

Crete island is generally hot in the summer and mild in the winter. Although there is some regional variation; Crete's mountains are normally snow-capped from November to May and can remain cold for most of the year. Typical summer temperatures are just under 30°C and the humidity can be fairly high inland. Winters tend to hover around 10°C, although the south of the island is significantly warmer. Rain is rare during the summer and plenty of dry days are possible throughout winter too.

Crete Tourist Season

July and August represent the peak of Crete's tourist season, and corresponds to the highest prices. Prices in Crete are all set by the Greek tourist board, so you need to travel outside of the peak season to find better deals and cheaper Crete holidays. May to June and September to October are good times to visit as the weather is still excellent but the island is a bit quieter. These times are very popular with hikers, so the beaches are relatively quiet. Charter flights to Crete end in October but the winter and spring months are good times to see the sleepy side of the island and to visit important sites when they are almost tourist free.
