Cyprus is a year-round destination with scorching hot summers where temperatures can reach 33°C at the coast and 38°C inland. The winters are mild on the coast, with temperatures frequently reaching 17°C-18°C, whilst in the mountains there can be heavy snowfall; Mount Olympus in the Troodos Mountains is a popular ski destination in the winter
Cyprus has very low rainfall for most of the year, with most if its rain falling in winter. This normally feels more like a tropical storm with clouds gathering in the afternoon followed by a couple of hours rain and then clear skies once more.
Because of the good year-round climate Cyprus doesn't have a distinctive peak season. Prices are at their lowest for the coldest months of December and January, but remain pretty steady for the rest of the year. If you're looking for a cheap holiday to Cyprus it's best to avoid the popular tourist resorts around Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca during the school holidays when the mass of travellers from the UK push up the prices.
