With very little variation in seasonal temperature, the weather in the Dominican Republic is nearly always sunny and warm. The average temperature is around 25 degrees and the Dominican Republic experiences 'an endless summer' due to the sunshine and warmth all year round. There is however, some variation in rainfall and generally January and February are the coldest months. August is the hottest month of the year and the island is prone to hurricanes between June and November.

Dominican Republic's Tourist Season

The Dominican Republic sees the most visitors between December and April when it is still pleasantly warm and sunny and people are seeking a tropical break from the winter in the UK. June to August are still popular times for Europeans to visit however it is the beginning of hurricane season.

Events in Dominican Republic

The two main festivals take place in Santo Domingo. One is the Merenge Festival, and the other is the Carnival in Spring. If you are fortunate enough to be visiting the island at the same time as either event you will experience a unique part of the culture. There is also a Jazz Festival every November on the Dominican Republic's northern coast.
