East Midlands airport was opened in the 1970s and now serves over four million passengers each year. There is just one terminal so it's easy to find your way around.
There is no train station at the airport so you will need to get a taxi or a shuttle from one of the local train stations which include Loughborough, Long Eaton, Nottingham and Derby. Alternatively you can drive yourself by taking the M1 and turning off at junction 23a or 24.
Almost all the shops are located after security control. You'll find Dixons, Boots, Accessorise among others and if you still have some spare change you can check out the supercars at Best of the Best. There are two bars, a selection of cafes (including Costa and Cafe Ritazza) and fast food chains burger King and Pizza Hut.

Express parking is available for stays up to 12 hours and is free for the first 10 minutes. Executive Parking is useful for stays of up to four days, there are limited spaces that can be pre-booked but the other spaces can be paid for on the day. Economy parking is ideal for stays of over five days and it is advisable to per-book. A complimentary coach takes you from the Economy car park to the terminal, but all others are walkable.
Europcar, Hertz, National and Enterprise all offer car hire from East Midlands Airport.
There are no hotels onsite at East Midlands Airport, but there are many within a few minutes' drive including Express By Holiday Inn, Travelodge and The Hilton East Midlands.
