Edinburgh
Edinburgh's climate means it has warm summers and winters that are much milder than the surrounding area. The summer temperatures generally average about 18°C, with average winter temperatures around 8°C. Come prepared though as Edinburgh is often very windy and there's rainy days throughout the year.
The height of the tourist season in Edinburgh is the summer months. Spring is generally a nicer time to visit, there are fewer crowds and the flowers are starting to bloom in all the parks.
Edinburgh also gets unbelievably full over Christmas and New Year with one of the highlights of the Edinburgh calendar being the traditional Hogmanay celebrations. Naturally, things are also busier whenever one of the famous festivals is on, but if you can brave the crowds the combination of the events and the sights is really enjoyable. We would recommend booking in advance though, as hotels in Edinburgh fill up quickly, and keep your eye open for good package deals.
