Travel to Geneva
There are over 25 airports in the UK that offer flights to Geneva. Flight operators range from national carriers to the low-cost airlines, and with that much competition it's usually possible to find a good deal on a flight. Though flight times will vary depending on where you're flying from, a good guideline is it takes one hour and 45 minutes from London to Geneva International Airport.

On arrival in Geneva
Geneva Airport is also known as Cointrin Airport because it is located in the town of Cointrin, which is five km north of the city of Geneva. It only takes about six minutes to reach Geneva Airport from the city by train and the train station has direct access to the airport. Express coaches run direct from the airport into Geneva city centre. You can also catch a local bus to Geneva or to other surrounding areas. In addition shuttle buses regularly ply the routes between the airport and the popular ski resorts during the ski season. You can book to pick up car hire from Geneva Airport, which is especially useful if you're moving around on your trip.
dealchecker tip: If you do take public transport look out for the Unireso ticket machine in the baggage collection area. This gives you a ticket for FREE travel in Geneva for a period of 80 minutes!
Getting around Geneva
Whether you're staying in a hotel, youth hostel or campsite make sure you ask for your free Geneva Transport Card when you check in. This card is valid for the duration of your stay and will allow you completely free use of all public transport in Geneva, including the buses, trains and boats.
The public transport system in Geneva is marvellously efficient, with a comprehensive network of buses, trams and suburban trains. In addition many places can be reached on foot, or by bicycle. With the exception of the Old Town, Geneva is a very flat city.
Travelling further afield
When you're staying in Geneva you'll have some exceptional transport connections which makes travelling further afield very easy to do. To begin with easyJet uses Geneva Airport as its European hub, meaning low-cost flights to much of Europe. If you have a hire car then Geneva is right on the motorway network, though you will need to display a compulsory motorway sticker (Vignette) to drive on the motorways.
Geneva also enjoys great train connections, both within Switzerland with hourly trains leaving for Zurich, Basel and Bern, and to the rest of Europe with direct trains to Paris, Nice, Barcelona, Milan, Venice and Rome. There are two main train stations in Geneva; the Gare de Cornavin and Gares des Eaux-Vives opposite - so make sure you go to the right one.
