Geneva
Geneva Weather
Geneva has very similar weather to the UK, with summer highs of about 25°C and winter temperatures averaging around 4°C in the daytime and dropping below freezing at night. Rainfall is likely all year but is most prevalent in autumn, and winter can see snow showers and frosts. The beaches on the lake are popular when the temperatures peak, but even in summer the evenings can get a little chilly so it's best to take a light jumper with you to ward off the cold.
Geneva's Tourist Season
July and August are the peak of the tourist season, coinciding with the best of the weather. Prices rise and accommodation is at a premium. The rest of the year, there are deals to be had, although you may find the town is booked up if your holiday dates coincide with an important international affair. Being flexible is the best way to get a good deal.
Events in Geneva
There are a plethora of events throughout the year ranging from showjumping to motorcars, marathons to book fairs and artistic shows so why not time your Geneva holiday to coincide with one of these? Some of the main events are the Bol d'Or Boat Race in June, the Cinema Tous Ecrans, an international film festival held in November, Walk For Hope, an annual fundraising walk in March and the International Tree and Lights Festival which runs from November to January. The most popular of all though is L'Escalade Celebration in December which celebrates Geneva's independence.
