Budget airlines easyJet and Wizz Air offer cheap flights to Hungary and both British Airways and Jet2 offer flights for reasonable prices. As there's Hungary flights from many UK airports it makes the country easily accessible - great for a weekend break. Direct flights only fly into Budapest but it's possible to visit other parts of the country by booking an indirect flight, although these can work out more expensive. Budapest Franz Liszt International Airport is located about 16 kilometres southeast of the city centre with good public transport on hand to take you to your destination.
Intercity trains link Budapest with all the major cities with Hungary and offer a cheap and fast way to explore the country during your Hungary holiday. Young people under the age of 26 can qualify for a 33% discount at weekends (including Friday afternoons). Alternatively take advantage of the bus service; the prices are similar to Intercity trains but you can run the risk of experiencing delays.

A typically Hungarian meal will include soup, meat with potatoes and a side salad followed by a dessert such a pancakes. Make sure you test their national dish of Goulash. You won't go home hungry!
