Ireland
Population:
6.2 million
Money:
The Republic of Ireland uses the € Euro. You may also find that some places near the Northern Ireland border may accept Pounds Stirling too, but it's best to ask first to be sure. ATMs and banks tend to offer the best exchange rates, and be aware that many of the attractions are quite remote so be sure to take cash with you.
Language:
English is spoken across Ireland, although Irish is the official language. The Irish accent can be strong and there are quite a few crossover words from Irish that get used, but they are a friendly bunch so always ask if you don't get what they are saying at first try. Beware of asking to learn an Irish phrase though as many think it's a fine joke to teach swear words pretending it's a greeting!
Dialling codes:
Dial +353 for Ireland, then 1 for Dublin, 21 for Cork and 61 for Limerick.
Entry:
Ireland is part of the EU, so any EU nationals can enter at any time, with just a valid passport.
