When to go to

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur Weather

Kuala Lumpur is protected by mountains to the east and the west which results in a stable climate. Daily temperatures don't really fluctuate throughout the year with highs of about 32°C and nightly lows of around 22°C. The monsoon season is from October to March, and the dry season is June and July, although it can rain at any time of the year and flooding is common throughout the city. But it's not all doom and gloom, there's plenty of sunshine around too.

Kuala Lumpur's Tourist Season

As the weather is fairly constant, tourists tend to visit all year round, safe in the knowledge that there will always be a shop, cafe or mall to dive into should the rain start. To get the best deals, the monsoon season is generally cheaper, but prices tend to vary more by area than by month, with the accommodation just to the north of the city centre tending to cater more to the budget traveller all year round.

Events in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is a busy city with hundreds of private events throughout the year so there's sure to be one to tickle your fancy. But there are several festivals that take over various parts of the city. Chinese New Year is centred in Chinatown but the festivities spread across the city, Thaipusam the Hindu festival on thanksgiving is held at the Batu Caves, and Divali, the Hindu festival of lights takes over Hindu dwellings as they are adorned with lights and the party begins! Plenty of other events celebrate the harvest season, Muhammed's birthday, and the Islamic New year are just a few so have a quick look online if you want to join in.
