Travel to Lanzarote

Sun lovers will be in their element during a Lanzarote holiday as they take advantage of the beautiful coastlines. Enjoy a trip to the dormant volcanoes of Timanfaya and eat a unique lunch at Montañas del Fuego –you can watch your meat being cooked on the underground heat! If you're visiting during the weekend don't forget to explore the island's largest market - held every Sunday - in the village of Teguise and test your bargaining skills! Finally party animals should make a beeline for Jameos del Agua – what could be better than a nightclub, swimming pool and a bar?

A huge variety of flights to Lanzarote are on offer from most UK airports with flight's landing at Lanzarote Airport.- the only airport on the island. Lanzarote Airport is located five kilometres away from the capital of Arrecife. Ryanair, easyJet, Thomson Flights and Flytomascook are just a few of the airlines who offer direct flights. Thanks to budget airlines flying to the island, Lanzarote flights can be cheap - meaning it's a great location if you're looking to plan a budget getaway and you can bag a brilliant bargain if you book early.

The local buses are one of the cheapest ways to explore the island during your Lanzarote holiday – there are stops in all the main tourists areas as well as the more remote villages on the outskirts. A bus pass offers good value for money if you're planning on making multiple trips in one day as it allows you to purchase tickets for half the regular price.

The immense popularity of Lanzarote means that accommodation can be expensive. But it's possible to visit the island on a budget as you'll find cheap hotels in Lanzarote if you book well in advance – you'd be surprised at what bargains you can pick up! Lanzarote is very popular with families and prices can rocket during the school holidays so consider planning your holiday outside of this peak time. The weather is still pleasant during the off-peak season – just make sure you pack a cardigan as the evenings can get a little chilly!

You'll be spoilt for choice with the selection of souvenirs on offer but make sure you try your hand at haggling! It's expected from the shopkeepers and you can grab a amazing bargain if you're persistent. A word of warning about using cash machines – make sure you avoid using the ones at the airport as they can charge you up to €8 to draw out cash. Wait until you reach your resort as prices are a lot more reasonable at around €1.50. Better still, bring cash with you to avoid these charges!

We took a day trip to this amazing village, in the path of the volcanic eruptions of Timanfaya. It's been voted Spain's prettiest village more than once and we adored it here. Stunning.
