Las Vegas
A neon oasis in the desert, Las Vegas enjoys long hot summers and short mild winter, with minimal rainfall. The height of summer can see the temperatures regularly pushing above 40°C in the daytime and dropping to about 26°C in the night, so remember to take sun cream! The lack of humidity does keep the heat bearable but it's even hotter in direct sunlight so bear that in mind when you want to go out and about. The daytime temperatures during winter are about 14°C and rarely drop below freezing, even at night.
With year-round sunshine, there is rarely a quiet time to visit Las Vegas - and the casinos are always open. For the best deals, January and February are quieter after the Christmas rush, and July and August are as close to a low season as you'll find in Las Vegas. As when the temperatures rise tourists seek other destinations. If you want to enjoy the casinos at their least crowded, go for weekdays as at the weekends they attract hordes of day- and weekend-trippers.
