London City Airport (LCY) is the only one of the London airports that's located in the heart of the city, so is very convenient for business travellers. 11 airlines fly to 45 destinations, which are mainly in the UK and Western Europe, and you can also fly to New York.
The airport has one terminal over two floors. Check-in, security and Arrivals are on the ground floor, and the departure lounge and most of the restaurants and bars are on the first floor.
Reaching London City Airport by car:
The airport is easily accessible by road and is outside the London Congestion Charge zone. You can get there from the A406 (North Circular), the A13 or the A205.
Reaching London City Airport by DLR:
The London City Airport station on the Docklands Light Railway (zone 3) is connected to the terminal. It is just 22 minutes from Bank station and 17 minutes from Stratford.
Reaching London City Airport by train:
The closest rail stations include London Bridge, Waterloo and Stratford International. All three can be reached via the Jubilee line from Canning Town which is a 7-minute DLR journey from the airport.
Reaching London City Airport by bus:
Number 473 runs between London City Airport, Stratford, North Woolwich and Prince Regent DLR Station. Number 474 runs between London City Airport, Canning Town, North Woolwich and East Beckton.
Shops at London City Airport: You can find WHSmith before and after security, and also after security are Aelia Duty Free, WHSmith Books and Gassan (diamonds and watches).
Bars and restaurants at London City Airport: Pret a Manger and Panopolis can be found before security, and rhubarb (restaurant), Espressamente Illy, Panopolis and The City Bar and Grill are after security.
Taxis: licensed taxis (black cabs) are available directly outside the terminal building.
Currency exchange: available through Travelex, who have several bureaux de change in the terminal.
Internet: wi-fi access is free for all passengers, and there are also computer desks in the departure lounge for pay-as-you-go internet access.
Special Assistance: the airport has a dedicated team on-site to help passengers with reduced mobility.
Other services include a complimentary shoe shine service from Shine Corp, an Information Desk in the departure lounge, a left luggage service and nine ATMs throughout the terminal.
The Meridian Business Centre, on the first floor, offers meeting and conference rooms with secretarial support, audiovisual equipment and catering. There are also conference facilities at two nearby hotels: Crowne Plaza London Docklands and the Hilton London Docklands.
Passengers can be dropped off on the forecourt next to the terminal building, but cars must not wait there.
The Short Stay car park is a 2-minute walk from the terminal, and the Main Stay car park is 7 minutes away.
Disabled car parking is available in the Short Stay car park at reduced rates.
A free motorcycle and bicycle parking area is available just in front of the terminal building.
Car hire at London City Airport is available through Alamo, Avis, Europcar, Hertz and National. The car hire desks are next to the terminal building. You're advised to compare prices in advance to get the best deal .
There is a wide range of hotels that are less than two miles from the airport, such as Ramada Hotel and Suites London Docklands, Ibis London ExCel-Docklands, Novotel London Docklands and Crowne Plaza London Docklands.
