London Stansted Airport Guide (STN)

London Stansted is 48km north-east of London. It's popular with low cost airlines but is used by 41 airlines making it one of the busiest airports in the UK. It has just one terminal so you shouldn't get lost.

Getting there

Whatever time of the day you need to get there you will be able to use public transport. The Stansted Express runs from London Liverpool Street through Tottenham Hale and arrives underneath the airport terminal. It departs from Liverpool St four times an hour and takes about 46 minutes. You can also get a National Express coach from Victoria Station, Liverpool St or Stratford. There is a shuttle to London Victoria. A taxi to central London will cost about £80.

Shopping and Dining

Stansted Airport has a good range of restaurants, cafes and bars including at least one 24-hour cafe and many well known names such as Pret, Frankie & Bennys and Costa. You'll find Duty Free Shops and many of your favourite high street brands such as Boots, HMV, Accessorize and Borders.

Lounges and business facilities

For a fee you can use the executive lounge which is open 15 hours a day. It's child-free and complimentary snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available. There are conference rooms and internet access is available in WiFi hotspots and pay-as-you go booths.

Car parking and car hire

Stansted Airport offers short, medium and long stay parking as well as valet parking. It's also worth finding out how much you will pay for parking if you book a pre-flight night in an airport hotel - it may be cheaper.
