Madrid Weather

The climate of Madrid is dry, warm and pleasant. The city's high altitude and proximity to mountains causes some wide variations in winter and summer temperatures. In summer the heat at midday can be intense, with pleasantly cool evenings. Winters, by contrast, bring temperatures dropping to just below freezing. Rain in Madrid is a rarity, with a short rainy season in late October and some showers in spring.

When to travel

It can be a good idea to travel to Madrid in less tourist heavy months; this way you'll have easier access to sightseeing interests and potentially a generally more pleasant experience, and you'll also save yourself some pennies! Madrid used to be a cheap destination but is now catching up with the UK for expense. If you're after cheap holidays to Madrid it can also be a good idea to stay in the Madrid hotels that are just outside of the city instead of right in the city centre. Madrid has some wonderful surrounding suburbs that can be ideal for finding cheaper accommodation.
