Magaluf
Hot SpotsBeaches of Magaluf
Magaluf is made up of three main beaches - Majorca Beach, Magaluf Beach and Palma Nova beach. All together these three beaches span 1600 metres of coastline, lined with cafes, bars and shops selling souvenirs. All three have been awarded blue flags for cleanliness, and are popular spots for relaxing, sunbathing and swimming in the warm Mediterranean waters. There are sunbeds to hire and plenty of activities on offer along the beaches including scuba diving, jet skiing, kite surfing and paragliding.
Punta Ballena Strip
Like most popular European summer destinations, Magaluf is brimming with bars and nightclubs. Most are located on the Punta Ballena Strip, which is packed out all summer long. The largest club, BCM, is located on Avenida S'Oliveria and is home to the world's largest foam machine. A new venue the Mallorca Rocks Hotel has been open since 2009 and has a capacity of 4,000 people. Popular UK DJs are now residents in some of the clubs in Magaluf and draw in massive crowds year on year. Drinks are cheap as over 100 bars put on offers and there is a non-stop ethos keeping many of the venues open all night!
Isla de sa Porrasa
Isla de sa Porrasa, or Black Lizard island, is situated 400 metres away from Magaluf beach. It received its name for the large number of black lizards that live there. Tourists staying on the beach often try and swim out to the uninhabited island - but beware! It is not as close as it looks! If you don't fancy swimming out that far you can take a jet ski or sailboat to the island.
Palma de Majorca
Less than 20 minutes away from Magaluf resort is the town of Palma de Majorca, the commercial and cultural centre of Majorca. There are plenty of things to do in Palma from historical monuments and museums to culture and nightlife. This is the more family friendly destination that lies next to the party resort of Magaluf. If you are staying in Magaluf, there is a sightseeing bus that takes you to Palma - the Number 50 - that you can hop on and off over a 24 hour period.
